AMERICAN ACADEMY OF IMPLANT DENTISTRY TO FUND RESEARCH
Englewood, NJ ---John C. Minichetti, Chairman of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry’s Research Foundation, recently announced that the committee has raised a record amount of money to be used to fund research in implantology. Dr. Minichetti is Director of the Center for Implants and Aesthetics, is an Executive Officer of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, serves on their Board of Trustees and is Past-President of the Northeast District. He is also Director of the Learning Center at Englewood Dental, where he teaches hands-on courses in implant dentistry.
Founded in 1951, the Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) is the first professional organization in the world dedicated to implant dentistry. Its membership includes general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists and others interested in the field of implant dentistry. The Academy’s mission is simple: to advance the science and practice of implant dentistry through education, research support and to serve as the credentialing standard for implant dentistry.
Minichetti said, “The Foundation has awarded over $250,000 for 47 research projects and has tripled its annual research grant awards from $25,000 to $100,000. This year alone the Foundation has awarded eleven grants to several educational institutions around the world and, for the first time in its history, expanded its grants to include humanitarian support by awarding $5,000 to Dental Lifeline Network formerly known as the National Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped. “
Minichetti, who has chaired the Foundation since 2007, explained, “I am pleased that the total assets of the Research Foundation has increased by 73% from $1,131,512 to $1,951,835 since September 2007 to the present, which includes an Endowment Fund of $1,743,693. The Foundation is now well positioned to fund research to continue making strides in implant dentistry."
