Course III: 3 Day Surgical “Hands on Training Course"
As Real as it Gets
Course Learning Objective
By the end of the course the participant should be able to: Perform Patient evaluations, Prescribe and Interpret Radiographs and CT Diagnostics, and Treatment Plan patients for Dental Implants Know the Zimmer Surgical protocol and Restorative Procedures and options Place Zimmer Dental Implants on Simulated Patients Mannequins, Place Immediate Implants, perform Socket Extraction and Bone Grafting Restore Dental Implants with Zimmer Prosthetics, Computer Milled Abutments, Restore Lower Overdentures, and Construct Esthetic Restorations.
Faculty
Dr. Minichetti is a general dentist who has been practicing implant dentistry in private practice for over 20 years. He now places and restores over 500 root form implants annually. Dr. Minichetti graduated first in his class from UMDNJ and completed a residency program at Mount Sinai Medical Center, NY. He is a fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, The International Academy of Dental Facial Esthetics, The American Academy of Implant Dentistry and a Diplomate of The American Board of Oral Implantology. Dr. Minichetti has published numerous articles and is a former faculty member of Fairleigh Dickerson University and Mt. Sinai Medical Center. He is presently on staff at Englewood Hospital, Past President of the Northeast District of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Chairman of their Study Club committee and President of The Bergen County Dental Implant Study Group. He lectures on Implantology both nationally and internationally.

Day 1
Lecture / Hands-On Exercises
Treatment Planning, Pharmacology, Root Form Surgical Protocol, Incisions, Surgical flap designs and Suturing, Suture Board Practice, Stage II Surgery Uncovery– punch & flap techniques, Implant placement surgical techniques, Consent forms necessary, Open & closed tray impressions & Provisional Choices, Fixture level Impressions posterior implants, Soft tissue cast and Abutment selection, Prep prefabricated abutments with abutment holder, Hex-Lock Contour Abutment selection, Techniques for Screw and Cementable PFM crowns.
Day 2
Lecture / Hands On-Exercises
Bone Grafting extraction sockets, Facial Membrane Utilization, Immediate implant placement, Membrane grafting, Utilizing Bone Tacks, Ridge splitting, Atraumati Extraction upper teeth, Bone graft front tooth, Wound dressing placement, Immediate implant placement front tooth, Membrane grafting tooth bicuspid, Mandibular posterior implant surgery
Tour Zimmer Manufacturing Facility
Upper impression with transfers, Indirect impression techniques, Fixture level indexing, angle abutment placement, Prep Implant Driver Mount as provisional abutment, Practice immediate placement and Immediate provisionalization of tooth #9
Day 3 Saturday
Lecture / Hands On Exercises
Fully edentulous mandible vertical incisions and flap design, Identifying the mental nerve/foramen, Overdenture Concepts, AP spread for overdentures and fixed restorations, Sinus lift with Osteotomes, (Sinus lift window techniques and. Bone block grafting optional) Learn implant attachments for overdentures, 4 implants for bar overdenture placement, Review Mandibular landmarks, Laboratory “Bleeding” models control with bone wax and crushing– Restorative procedures for lower open tray, Ball attachments Locator attachments, Cold curing denture attachments directly in mouth, 4 on the floor bar overdenture practice Misfit on the bar, Treatment Planning: – Cases brought by participants & residents – class room or conference room

Implant Failures & Treatment, Patient profile with fixed crown, Learn Atlantis abutments and provisionals, seat Atlantis abutment, Restore nonparallel implants with Atlantis abutments and trying frameworks , direct open tray impression techniques, Review final restorations
